Introduction to Welding and Metal Fabrication
October 29, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

This workshop will introduce you to the core skills used in metal fabrication – cutting, welding and grinding – by creating a small minimalist planter. You’ll get LOTS of hands-on experience with all the tools needed to cut, shape and join steel.
You’ll start with a single piece of low-carbon “flat stock” steel. You’ll cut that steel into the individual pieces of your planter and prep those pieces for welding. You’ll then get one-on-one instruction using a MIG welder and have plenty of time to hone your welding skills assembling your planter.
Next you’ll use an angle grinder to shape and polish your welds. You’ll then learn to use a drill press and a tap to create the threaded holes for your planter’s “feet”.
Finally, you’ll be able to personalize your planter’s features, including it’s “feet” and finish. For example, you can choose to leave your planter “clean and shiny” or use our engravers to personalize it however you see fit.
This workshop involves a lot of work. You’ll make a lot of sparks using several different tools and “elbow grease” but we’re sure you’ll take home something you can be proud of.
