In this two session intermediate knife making workshop, you dive deeper into the art and science of knife making by forging a beautiful custom utility knife.
You’ll be given the choice of making one of two types of knife:
Outdoor Knife – This knife will be a robust everyday-carry tool and your go-to for outdoor adventures, ideal for cutting wood, opening boxes and crates, and just about anything that Bear Grylls could throw at it.
Kitchen Knife – You’ll make your new favorite kitchen companion, a petty knife that’s custom fit to your hand, ideal for just about anything in your kitchen.
You’ll start this workshop with a 3/16″ thick piece of 80CRV2 carbon steel and transform it into your custom designed blade using heat, hammers, grinders, and various other tools. Once you’ve finalized your knife’s profile and bevel, you’ll heat treat and quench your blade to harden the steel. After that, you’ll cleanup your knife’s shape and cutting edge with grinders before attaching its hardwood scales.
This is an intermediate level workshop which requires prior forging and/or knife making experience in one of our other knife making or blacksmithing workshops.
