Learn the fundamentals of leatherwork by crafting a custom leather bi-fold card wallet
Leather goods have been used by humans as far back as 5,000 BCE when Egyptians crafted sandals, clothes, gloves, buckets, bottles, and burial shrouds. In this workshop, you’ll learn a variety of skills and join a long history of craftspeople by creating your very own leather wallet!
Leather craft requires obsession over details, a keen eye, and a generous helping of patience. After this workshop you’ll have a firm grasp of the leather craft skills you can use to make thousands of items. You will never look at a leather good the same way again!
In this workshop you will begin with a single square of leather before cutting, finishing, gluing, punching, and sewing together your final piece.
Guests will learn to measure, cut, bevel, glue, punch, and sew their very own piece. You’ll also have the option of custom engraving your wallet using our laser cutter.
What You’ll Be Making : A handcrafted leather bi-fold wallet.
What’s You’ll Be Doing: You will use various hand tools to create your wallet: exacto knife, edge beveler, chisel, sewing needles, sewing awl, mallet, and the most versatile tool we all possess, your hands!
Skill Level : Beginner — no prior experience is required. This workshop is designed to introduce you to the core concepts of leather craft – measuring, cutting, beveling, gluing, punching, saddle stitching, and edge finishing.
