The Basics of Craftsman Ave Workshops
Do I get to keep what I make?
Yes! Every single workshop ends with you walking out the door with a handcrafted, tangible item to show off to your friends, family, and everyone else in your life. Whether it’s a copper lamp you made yourself or a leather tote bag, it’s yours.
I’ve never worked with power tools. Should I still sign up for a class?
Yes! Our workshops are beginner-friendly and open to everyone.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
You don’t need to bring a thing! We provide all protective gear, tools, and materials needed to complete your project.
How long are the workshops?
Most of our classes are 3-4 hours long. Some, like our Damascus knife class, are an all-day workshop. As you browse classes on our website, you’ll notice the length of time for each class is listed to help you plan and schedule.
Do you offer private workshops?
Yes we do! Any class at Craftsman Ave can be turned into a private experience. Our private workshops are also customizable, with the Craftsman Ave team handling the logistics so you can focus on the fun stuff. For more information, check out our private group workshops page and request a quote.
What types of workshops do you offer?
Right now, you can choose from blacksmithing/metal fabrication, leatherwork, stained glass, woodworking, electronics, textiles, and upcycling. We plan to add more workshops too, so be sure to check back often!

Can I bring my own snacks, drinks, or booze?
Yes, you can! Our instructors will provide guidance on the best timeframe during the workshop to enjoy any snacks or drinks you bring (if you BYOB, keep in mind we will highly suggest NOT to open these up until you’re done working with power tools!). We also offer some beverages like sparkling water for you to enjoy during your workshop.
Booking, Gifting, and Classes for Kids
Are Craftsman Ave’s workshops kid-friendly?
Absolutely! We’re happy to welcome kids to our classes as long as a parent or guardian signs up for the workshop as well. Our “Buddy Up” packages are the best way to work on one project together or each create your own.
Can I book a workshop as a surprise for someone else?
Totally. You can book under your own name and keep the secret safe. When your friend arrives, they can just give us your name and sign the waiver. If you want to be extra organized, email us after the big reveal and we’ll update the booking details for you. We also offer gift cards.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Our cancellation policy allows you to change the date of your workshop as long as you give us 7 days notice. This gives us enough time to fill your vacated seat when plans change. But we know life happens and sometimes things come up and you don’t have 7 days notice. If you get an unavoidable, last-minute curveball, email us at hello@craftsmanave.com and we’ll do our best to get you in for a workshop on another date.
Safety
What should I wear to my workshop?
For safety, we recommend closed-toe shoes and clothing with natural fibers (that you don’t mind getting a little dusty). If you have long hair, tie it back, and leave the dangling jewelry at home or in your bag.
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes, every participant will need to sign a waiver before taking part in our workshops. It’s quick, easy, and keeps things safe here at Craftsman Ave.
Is there an age limit for using the power tools?
As long as a parent or guardian is there to help younger folks, we don’t have an age limit for our workshops. We do expect parents or guardians to use their discretion when selecting which workshop to bring their children to.
Corporate Groups & Private Parties
How much does a private workshop cost?
Pricing depends on the workshop type, group size, and when it’s scheduled. Weekends and evenings tend to cost a bit more due to demand. We’ll work with you to recommend the best options. Fill out a quote on our private group workshops page to get started.
How many people can you accommodate?
Most workshops work well for groups of 8-20, but we can tailor experiences for smaller or larger groups depending on the activity. For certain workshops, like our Pinewood Derby, we can accommodate much larger numbers. We can also arrange split workshops, where your group can divide and experience two different activities. Some workshops pair better than others, and we’ll help you explore those options as part of the planning process.
Can I customize my private experience?
Absolutely, and we’re here to help with logistics! This is an especially appealing option for corporate events or work off-sites because we take a lot of the headache out of logistics planning. Want to set up a brainstorming session in our lobby before or after? Want to have a pizza party after your workshop? Let us know what you’re looking for and we’re happy to help.
What about food and drink for private groups?
You have a few options! Our convenient location in Industry City makes us a great “one stop shop” for private events like birthday parties, corporate retreats and more. You can:
-Bring your own food and drinks for people to enjoy
-Let us know what food options you’d like to have and we’ll help you secure catering
–Check out nearby restaurants in Industry City for a meal before or after your workshop
