Textiles are any kind of material made from fibers or yarns woven, knitted, felted, or bonded together. This includes everything from fabric for clothing and home décor to intricate artworks crafted from threads and fibers. It’s a versatile form of art and industry that dates back thousands of years, stretching from the creation of the first woven fabric to modern fashion and upholstery. Simply put, textiles are the fabrics of life—literally.

You can learn sewing, embroidery, applique, quilting, rug hooking, dyeing, and tufting. At the basis of these skills is spinning, the method of turning raw materials like wool or cotton fibers into yarn or thread. Although most textiles you encounter in your everyday life are either knit or woven by complex machines or chemical processes required to make synthetic fibers, Craftsman Ave textiles workshops focus on more traditional and hands-on textiles skills seen across history.

Workshops at Craftsman Ave is designed to be completed in an afternoon. Most workshops last 3-4 hours and include all the tools and materials you need to create something awesome!
