What You’ll Be Making : A custom magnetic knife board crafted from premium hardwoods
What You’ll Be doing: You’ll start by selecting the piece that will become your knife board and creating the profile for it – either your own design or from one of our templates. From there, using a number of power tools you’ll shape it, sand it, and embed the powerful neodymium magnets inside, and finally apply a beautiful finish.

Do I need woodworking experience for this workshop?
Nope! All of our workshops at Craftsman Ave are beginner friendly (and a whole lot of fun).
How do I make a magnetic knife holder?
We don’t want to give it all away, but we will say it starts with choosing quality wood, finding quality magnets, and making sure you build the board to easily mount to the wall. Our workshop gives you all the materials you need to make this happen.
What should I wear to the workshop?
Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. You should also leave any dangling jewelry at home.
How long does it take?
Our workshop is around 4 hours.
What mistakes should I avoid when making a magnetic knife rack?
Drilling too deep, using weak magnets, poor spacing/alignment, and skipping proper mounting are common mistakes you can make. Luckily, our workshop will help you avoid all of this!
Are there any age restrictions for this workshop?
Since many of our workshops involve power tools, we normally ask that all guests are 18 years old or older. However, minors are welcomed to join our workshops if an adult participates and supervises the minor throughout the workshop. This can be done several ways – by both the minor and the adult signing up as “guests” for the workshop or by signing up for our Buddy Up! or Date Night packages. These packages are designed for two people to make one thing together and both people will get bragging rights to the finished product and the great memories from the experience.
