Mixed Craft

Blend multiple crafting disciplines into a single project.
A beautiful embroidery project in progress

“Mixed craft” is a pretty generic term, and you might be wondering what it means. To put it simply, mixed craft is a creative approach that blends many different DIY disciplines into a single project. Think woodworking with metal fabrication or stained glass with painting. Many DIYers enjoy this kind of craft because it adds variety, allows for more personalization, encourages creativity, and enhances a variety of skills all in one project. If you’re ready to flex your creativity muscles and try something completely out of the box, Craftsman Ave’s Mixed Craft workshops in Brooklyn are for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are mixed craft classes?

Mixed craft is a creative approach that blends many different DIY disciplines into a single project. This might mean adding embroidery to a hand-painted postcard, or it could mean welding a lamp and attaching it to a wooden table. Any kind of project that requires more than one DIY technique is likely a type of mixed craft!

What types of crafts can you combine in a mixed craft class?

The sky is the limit here! At Craftsman Ave, we currently offer a mixed craft workshop in creating your own whiskey barrel for aging and crafting cocktails OR we have a class for woodworking students who created a wooden side table and want to add a cool metal lamp to it. More classes will be coming soon, too.

Are mixed craft workshops suitable for beginners?

All of our workshops are designed for beginners, but keep in mind some of our mixed craft classes require “prerequisites”. This just means you need to create something from a single discipline first (like a wooden side table) before you can get into the mixed craft side of things.

Do I need to bring my own supplies?

All supplies, tools, and safety equipment is included in the cost of your workshop.
